The Power of Potential

The Power of Potential

I can almost guarantee that what first comes to your mind when you read the topic is NOT what we will cover today (but smile!). While you may have thought we’d talk about having the potential for something you desire can be so powerful, were actually going to talk about how the power of things that can “potentially” happening can not only temporarily paralyze you but also cause you to miss out on the incredibly delicate and fragile thing were only given once – which is LIFE!

When I started dancing people made it clear that you had to be available for anything. It’s a fast pace community and you want to always appear ready. But what I started to notice happening were people (myself included) would literally sit around doing nothing, going nowhere, and not  planning anything so they could sit and wait for the POTENTIAL of a job.

What I noticed even more is that it started to carry over into life. How many times have you tried to make plans with a friend or make a date with someone you’re interested in and you wait until the last minute because you “don’t know what can come up”.

What ends up really happening is we self train a future habit that says the POTENTIAL of something happening is more important than what we can ACTUALLY MAKE HAPPEN ourselves. We miss out on incredible experiences with amazingly game-changing people in much needed new environments because we are sitting by the phone, gmail, or even the front door waiting for the Next Best Thing.

The only thing guaranteed in life is the moment you are in RIGHT NOW. Why waste it waiting for something that has yet to become existent.

So the next time you hesitate to make a decision between what COULD be and WHAT is, challenge yourself to go for what is tangibly available. That level of integrity will carry over into the future and I can almost guarantee you will live a life more freely, successful, and powerful than anything could POTENTIALLY ever bring you.

Until next time…Peace!
