Something this world could use more of right now is happiness. Everyone is pursuing it in one way or another, but sadly, many efforts go fruitless. Who would have known that the hardest thing to grasp could be achieved by the simplest means? Here’s 3 ways to get and STAY happy!
- Be present
“Forever – is composed of nows” – Emily Dickinson
Your future can only be as bright as your current life is. We can always hope for a better tomorrow, but what about today?
A lot of discontentment and dissatisfaction with our lives stems from us failing to see the constant blessings that unfold right in front of our faces. Some of us are searching for the very things that we have in our own hands. We have set ourselves up for a life of constant pursuit, never being satisfied with the things we accomplish because we immediately jump ahead to the next thing we need or want.
Take the time to look for the daily joys, blessings, and miracles that are right under your nose. Because if you keep missing them, they’ll eventually stop showing up.
- Be thankful
“True prosperity means today’s needs are met today” – Dr. Myles Munroe
Many of us are living abundant lives that we rarely take notice of. We are so busy hustling and grinding for what we don’t yet have that we fail to realize what a blessing it is to have more than enough for today. There are so many people in the world that don’t even have basic needs for the day, much less are able to set their minds on tomorrow or the rest of the week.
Now this isn’t an excuse not to plan for the future. But there’s a difference in planning for the future and obsessing over it. Doing this robs you of today’s joys. In the midst of everything you want to have and accomplish, take a moment out of every day to look around you and intentionally be thankful. Because there was a time in the past when you dreamed to be where you are now.
- Be flexible
“Stay committed to your decisions but flexible in your approach” – Tony Robbins
The reason a lot of us are discontent and unhappy is because we aren’t where we think we should be in life. We feel like we’re behind and need to catch up, when really we may just need to revise our goals and expectations.
Sometimes “the process” (what most of us affectionately call “the struggle”) takes a little longer than we expect it to. And that’s okay! It’s a dangerous thing to put a rush on your process because that’s what equips you with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to not only effectively accomplish what you’re after, but help you to sustain it as well. A lot of us are rushing towards things we aren’t even ready for, but you won’t have to worry about that it you remain flexible to the ebb and flow of life. It’s much easier and pleasant to float with the current than to swim against it.
So you see, it really is the “little things.” Achieving happiness won’t cost you a dime, but it will definitely make you feel like a billionaire.
Be encouraged & Stay Blessed,
