3 Things to Stop Doing in 2019

Let’s be honest. Not everything that happened in 2018 was good. Some things we need to leave behind. Make 2019 the year that you stop the foolishness of your past and use the lessons you’ve learned. Why not start with putting an end to these 3 things!

1. Comparison
Can we all agree that this is way past played-out? In this current world of technology, our fantasy dream life is always staring us in the face every time we log in. But we often don’t think about all of the things each person had to go through to get to the point they are currently in. Or better yet, what facade they had to put on to give the illusion that they’re in a certain place. Be careful wishing for someone else’s life because they may be facing battles you aren’t strong enough or willing to fight. Instead, run the race that you are given in the best way that you can. Being authentic to your own journey will cause others to be inspired by you instead of becoming discouraged by where they happen to be in life.

2. Being trendy.
Many people in our generation suffer from a lack of identity because we have a tendency to change with the trends. Figure out what your values and standards are, have an opinion, and stop allowing the winds of change to blow you about. Choose what you subscribe to according to what aligns with your identity, not just what’s going viral. As the popular saying goes, if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything. Accept the trends that reinforce who you already are and let the others blow in the wind.

3. Making excuses
You’ll never be able to grow as a person until you take responsibility for your mistakes, bad habits, and insecurities. You can pass the blame all you want but in the end, you’re only hurting yourself by remaining stagnant in your growth. Have an honest moment with yourself where you truly take some time to look in the mirror and ask what things you need to improve on. You can even take it a step further by asking a close friend or family member what things they’ve noticed that you could work on as well.
